Hi and welcome to Bubbles & Barbells!
My name is Amanda and I’m a Canadian girl currently residing in Toronto.
Fitness has always been a part of my life, whether it was me doing home workouts on a DVD or going to various exercise classes. 5 years ago I began making fitness seriously, focusing on bodybuilding and preparing for my first competition. I learned SO much from my coaches and have used that knowledge to continue getting stronger each and everyday.
I fell into an amazing routine of working out and eating clean, but that all changed when last year my husband and I decided to travel for 4 months across SE Asia. I was super excited to explore new cultures and try new foods, but I didn’t want to throw away the past 5 years of hard work and dedication, just because we were travelling.
During our 4 months, I explored a bunch of culinary delights but also ensured that I was eating as healthy as possible, and also still working out.
After we came back to Canada, I created this blog to show people that you can have a balanced lifestyle that is still fitness focused but not the only thing that makes up your life. You can have your protein shakes, your ice cream cakes, and a glass of bubbly here and there!
My lifestyle is one of balance, which is where the name Bubbles and Barbells comes from. It’s how I balance the hard work in the gym, with fun times, and great meals with my friends and loved ones.
I want to help everyone find the confidence to enjoy every aspect of their life, and help you learn that you don’t need to spend countless hours eating salad and running on the treadmill to achieve your goals. I want to help people have a healthy relationship with food and understand that changing any aspect of your life (body, mind & soul) takes time and patience. Ignore the fit teas, throw out the magic lotion, and lets dive into this fitness journey together!
