What Is Motivation?

Motivation is an important life skill. Every person on this planet is very unique, different, and we all have a purpose. Motivation is the desire to do something with your personal life, at work, in school, in sports or any hobbies. Having that motivation can help you achieve any goal you might have! Knowing how to motivate yourself can help you set your mind to accomplish any goal or dream you might have.

How To Motivate Yourself?
  1. Remind yourself why you want to do this
Keep reminding yourself why you’re doing this. Write it down, say it out loud, or whatever you have to do to keep this goal in check. Ask yourself what are the benefits of this goal. Example for myself, I don’t want to work for someone, I want to work hard for the things that I want to do in life and run things myself. Working for someone else doesn’t give me the motivation to do better, there is no reward… At the end of my day, I want that feeling of “wow I did this.” I need to do something that I love, instead of that feeling of dragging yourself to a job every single day.
  2. Create a positive environment
Reading quotes, a book you love, or listening to music can really change how you feel. Music for me really gets me in the mood. I have my pump up jams for the gym, or coffee shop music that makes me reflect on my life and gets me emotional at times. Before Jamie and I quit our jobs to travel the world, certain music really got me in the mood and made me feel really lucky and blessed that I was able to do such a thing.
  3. Celebrate the small wins
Sometimes when you think about a big goal you definitely feel overwhelmed at times. I sure do! Goals take time to accomplish, let alone BIG life changing ones. Instead create small goals. Everything great happens with mini baby steps. With mini steps you’re able to maybe tweak certain things, or come up with more neat ideas! Celebrating small wins will really help keep yourself motivate, and eventually all of those mini goals end up adding to that big goal. PLUS, celebrating is always fun and it’s a great way to also pop some BUBBLY! 😉
  4. Surround yourself with positive like-minded people
Same as being in a positive environment, you need surround yourself with motivated people. You need to be around others, who are just as ambitious as you are, who help lift you up, and are supportive of one another. Having the right kinds of people in your life will make a huge difference in your motivation. Being around negative people is honestly draining and it will hurt your goals if you hang around them too often. People who really care about you and your and your goals will lift you up not tear down your dreams.
